Allendale Animal Hospital
Dan Vos Construction Company worked with the doctors of Allendale Animal Hospital through site analysis and municipal approvals for the relocation of their veterinary practice to a site along Lake Michigan Drive in Allendale Township. Every area of service needed to expand in order to gain the operational efficiency and meet current demands of Allendale Township customer base. The doctors and support staff achieved two main goals for their new veterinary hospital. The first was to provide clients and pets with the most up to date care facility. The second goal was to provide a high level care with a sense of security and comfort of home versus a hospital environment. Project features: Spacious waiting room with animal separation Retail sales area Climate controlled pet wards Consultation Room Grooming area Private offices for doctors Employee lounge with full kitchen Dental Pharmacy Expandable by 2,000 sq. ft. 5 exam rooms Recovery Suite The new design includes multiple spaces with well defined areas, that were previously overextended overcrowded and overcommitted. The medical and pet care functions of the facility were organized and designed along a central ‘spine’ corridor. The spine corridor allows the staff to communicate efficiently during medical procedures. The corridor connects the hospital’s major functions; exam rooms, x-ray, darkroom, treatment, surgery, recovery wards, lab, pharmacy, business office as well as the reception and waiting areas. With the client’s comfort in mind, the new veterinary hospital’s exterior and interior has been designed in the Arts an Crafts style. Elements of design and development of the Art and Crafts style for this project are found in the building’s exterior massing, trim work, window and door detailing and color scheme. Interior elements include polished concrete flooring and floral paint scheme and medical hardware elements throughout. The interior style of “Home” and “Organic” gives the personage of Allendale Animal Hospital a familiar and comforting environment to help reduce the stress level of both clients and pets.
