Gordon Food Service Square Roots

Gordon Food Service HQ | Wyoming, Michigan
Wyoming, MI

Square Roots an indoor urban farm located at Gordon Food Service in Wyoming, Michigan. The idea behind this project is to bring home grown produce like mint, chives and basil to West Michigan year round. This container project is one of first in partnership with Square Roots’ high-tech farms built on or near Gordon Food Service locations.

The Square Roots Farm consists of ten (10) cloud-connected climate containers (shipping containers) with digitally-controlled hydroponics and full-spectrum LED lighting systems, producing more than 50,000 lbs. in premium herbs and greens annually without the use of GMOs or pesticides. The containers are linked by a central Hub steel structure building with IMP panels and concrete foundation.

The containers are linked to the hub through pressurization air locks. A total of 13 employees include a farmer for each container, following strict SOP’s of inspection and packaging. Our construction and design teams analyzed the logistics and designed the Hub bringing together the Break Room, Work Rooms, Utility Room, Coolers, Patio and all of the containers together, in just six months.
